On an ordinary night in June.
On an ordinary night in June.

Howdy!

My name is Abraham Mojica, although I have gone by A.J. since I was a kid.

I wanted to start my own blog for a couple of reasons. The first is to share some of my experiences with open ears. And I also want to start working my way off social media and do my own thing.

I was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1979, to a man called Hector and a lovely woman named Juanita.

We moved around a lot back then. A few years in San Diego, California, a year or two in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Then a lot of bouncing around in South Florida. After finishing middle school in Northport I moved on to Fort Pierce Central.

When people ask where I'm from I always reply with South Florida, or SoFlo (I name I just recently learned of). As a kid I spent the most time in Fort Pierce or Port Saint Lucie. At 17 I graduated and left for boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Deport Parris Island.

As I type this I reflect on how many years ago that was, and am reminded of it by the burning I feel in my eyes from looking at a screen for too long.

The Lord has blessed me with an enchanting wife and a charming-witty son. I owe everything I am to Him.

I’m a “momma’s boy” at heart and I want to make sure she knows she did a good job raising an honorable man. As a father and husband, I want my family to be proud of me.

The rest of this story will begin here - Once upon a time...
